The launch of NIO ET7, at an event held in the western Chinese city of Chengdu, took place while the American company Tesla started to market on the Chinese market the Model Y SUV, made in China.
In the Chinese market, sedans and SUVs account for about 46% of total vehicle sales.
Nio CEO William Li said the company's new battery technology gives the ET7 a range of more than 1,000 kilometres between charges.
